Bangladesh:

Bangladesh came into existence in 1971 when Bengali East Pakistan seceded from its union with West Pakistan. About a third of this extremely poor country floods annually during the monsoon rainy season, hampering economic development.

The Daywalka Foundation has partnered with the International Office on Migration to open a center in Bangladesh in August 2006.  This center will become part of an existing resource center in Dhaka.  It will focus on increasing the legal capacity of local NGO's, the implementation of the recently ratifiied South Asian Rights of the Child Convention, and extending the work of the highly sucessful Thematic Working Group on Trafficking.
